There are several ways to make web hotel reservations, some may even assist the consumer in getting a discount. Many of those who travel will turn to the internet for reservation bookings. However, if you don’t know what to look for when making online hotel reservations, the traveler can easily be fooled. Some of the hotels featured online may not be completely honest about matters such as features, undesirable locations, costs, and their reviews.
When considering making online hotel reservations, always seek out reviews that are independent of the site. The hotel’s site may only list biased reviews that are in favor of the hotel. It only takes a few minutes to do and may spare you from booking a room with a hotel that has a bad reputation. Keep in mind to check the hotel’s rating, and try to get reviews from a reliable source on the web.
Location is key. You should always do a little research on the surrounding community or area before making online hotel reservations. This is especially true if you have never visited in the particular area. Is the hotel in a safe place? This should be one of the top priorities. Safety ratings of a particular region or city are typically available on the web, and it should be one of the first things you check out.
Online hotel reservations can be convenient and save you money. Play it safe and smart. Know what it is that you are looking for and investigate before booking any online hotel reservations.

I love that you can do so much these days online. You can buy anything you want! Including pizza and having it delivered to your door! Hotel reservations and even restaurant reservations seem to be the “next thing” with the internet these days.

Who wouldn’t want to find cheap hotels?

Would it be appropriate to also make a list of other hotels that might be in the area, just in case you need to move once you have seen your reserved room?

Also you could get great deals by packaging your flights and hotel reservations together on some websites. Back at the beginning of this summer were some of the hottest deals I’ve ever seen, vacations including flight and stay to places in Europe were under $1000US! Another thing is to put the bill on your credit card since that will ensure you’d get your money returned if something does unfortunately happen to the vendor.
Discount Hotel Reservations 08.26.09 at 2:13 pm
In my experience, it’s Ok to book one with the lowest price. The prices are varied because the agents get different discount from the hotels – the more room nights they sell, the bigger discount they get and they pass the bigger discount to customers to gain their competitive edge. After booking online, you will get reply email from the agent. You can make sure what you really want from them before making a payment.
Don’t forget to review comment from their customers, this will give you some idea of how good or bad they are.

I think you can usually trust reviews for hotels (from other websites). Whenever I’ve read reviews before staying somewhere they’ve always turned out to be pretty accurate. I’m not saying believe every single review (people do exagerate) but if several people say the same thing then you can probably assume they are right.

I am a traveller and as well a hostel website operator Hostelio.com
For me the most important thing is “cancellation policy”. I really read all small text in terms&aggrement and only book if i feel the cancellation policy is fair…

I always do my hotel and traveling plans online these days. It’s the easiest and fastest way to get the best prices. Wouldn’t do it any other way.

Making a reservation with an independent online booking site really comes in handy when needing a go to person for complaints. On a recent visit to Las Vegas, we found that the room next to us was being repaired, starting at 7 a.m. in the morning. We woke up to loud equipment noise. A call to the desk did not get the response we wanted. However, a call to the booking site quickly connected us to the proper authority and we were quickly provided with another room and an extra free day.

Online reservations can be a very successful experience. it’s true that not all people have had a good experience with online bookings. On some occasions there have been disappointing trips when people find out the pictures and reviews on a website are not a true reflection. It is good to do extra research and even look for places that people you know might recommend from experience. The most popular and well known accommodation providers may also be the most expensive so if you are looking for something cheaper be very careful that you aren’t sacrificing a lot more for the price.
Online Hotel Reservations 12.24.09 at 2:04 pm
Well, I have been booking hotels online (since I travel a lot because of my job) for about 3 years now. From those 3 years I learned a little bit about what you should worry about when booking online =)
I´ll try to be simple in order to help you, here is a list of what you should look for:
1) Number of hotels available in the Website
2) If the website asks for a pre-payment, forget it! They might rip you off, pay only once you check-in!
3) Look for a website where has information about the company (staff, where it is located and etc)

I’ve found Tripadvisor to be a great site to check out for impartial reviews before heading off on holiday.

I’m not convinced that on-line is the way to go if you want best value. For example, we happily take on-line reservations but those that contact us with a question or two before they proess the button usually get either a discount oor other incentive.

Find out as much info as you can from the hotel site, and then go outside the site to find out more – If they are great, it will be easy to locate additional info, same is true if they are horrible! If worse comes to worse, call the hotel directly.

The likes of trip-advisor and sites like it are a great way to get real people reviews on places you might be planning to stay in. I have noticed you still get a lot of people given dodgy reviews but these are easy noticeable. 1st: they usually leave an over the top comment about how great the place is and 2nd: they often leave more than one comment and it always comes straight after a bad one.
